I have something most don't even pause to consider.
Days
Yep - just days. Have you counted them?
1260 days is 42 months.
But that means that 1260 x 2 = 2520 Days over 7 years.
And furthermore that means that there are indeed 12 months to a year (42x2=84 & 84 / 12 = 7)
HOWEVER 365.5 days per year is 2556 (I know calendars are so weird. But this is just math - that is it - no calendar - just counting.)
What math is the Bible doing??
To find out let's follow this through.
42 months x 30 days each (oh la la! - a little Italian to spice up the numbers - please insert appropriate accent) = 1260
What about Daniel and his statement of 1335 days from the middle point? (Dan 12:12)
That would give us exactly 75 days MORE than the 1260 days set forth in Revelation.
Does this mean that God is on a 360 day calendar?
If we measure the time of Noah on the Ark going from age 600 to age 601, we can indeed measure exactly that by the days given.
This may mean we think we have somehow counted 2000 years from Jesus accurately.
But did we? What are just a few days over, say 2000 years?
Going from August 70AD (an aprox from the 9th of Av) we count 741,085 days which is 1955 years (according to the 365.5 day calendar).
Now we must add the 40 years to get us back to the cross and that is a total 1995 years in a 365.5 day calendar.
It gets crazy when we start trying to figure out the leaping of laps and who was leaping in what civilization when leaping got counted.
I know, it has nothing to do with theology - just numbers in the Bible.
Maybe that was why Jesus told the Disciples in his very last words before going to heaven,
"He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8-9
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34
Jesus didn't say disregard the future. He said the future will take care of itself. The gospel does not take care of itself. It demands our attention MORE than the future should.
At least that is what Jesus said.
I happen to dislike a hyperfocus on judgment because it delivers no mercy as judgement is truly deserved to be brought upon us all! (That is a bit of the message in the book of Romans - you know - all have sinned and fall short...).
Sinners know this story. They are very uninterested. They are looking for God though. And God is love.
"For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment."
This is thought provoking. One of the numbers you calculated was 1995 years since the cross (assuming a 30AD crucifixion date.) 30 + 1995 = 2025.
But then we get into the variables, such as: what year did the crucifixion happen, accounting for the year zero, etc.--all of which makes it impossible to pinpoint a date. But one thing I'm sure of--the end of the age is near and (I believe Jesus will return in my lifetime.
Let me explain it a bit differently with more a more striking example.
If you had a 250 day year and celebrated your 30th birthday, you would be 7500 years old.
If you had a 365.5 day year and celebrated your 30th you would be 10,965 days old.
At age 30 you will be 3465 days OLDER.
I did this too - I created something out of the Bible that was not there.
God gave us a timeline. He gave us exact numbers.
If we change the counting of days - all the Feasts of the Lord along with the Jubilee and special Sabbaths are all wiped out. None of the patterns of numbers God gave in Scripture make no sense.
I had to realize that it is true, and I can believe things everyone else believes, but that does not mean it is true. I must submit even the most difficult math to Jesus and find his mercy.
Interesting and enlightening 😊
Interesting!

Math challenge us in that area.
It is worth a closer look.
