Satan Cast Down — The Final Choice [Companion Article]
Episode 8 — Birth Pangs of the End Times
The Top Eight Questions Raised in Episode 8
The final episode of Birth Pangs of the End Times raises several important questions about the events described in Revelation and the spiritual conflict surrounding the end of the age.
If you haven’t watched, listened to, or read the final episode of A Positive Apocalypse trilogy’s first book, you can do so here.
The Top Eight Questions:
Does Satan currently have access to heaven?
What will cause Satan to be cast out of heaven?
Will Satan and the fallen angelic rulers die like men?
Will there be catastrophic earthquakes and tsunamis in the end times?
What is Satan’s final strategy?
How do overcomers treat their enemies?
Are global governance efforts such as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals real?
Will believers be excluded from the global economic system?
1. Does Satan currently have access to heaven?
Yes, he does. But many are confused about this.
A Source of Confusion
When the seventy disciples returned rejoicing that demons were subject to them, Jesus said, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven” (Luke 10:18). The Greek verb suggests Jesus was watching a scene unfolding, not that he was describing a completed event.
Here’s what I think Jesus meant in Luke 10:18:
“The kingdom of God is now advancing, and as it continues to advance, Satan’s authority will progressively be broken.”
The Book of Revelation (chapter 12) describes how, at the end of this age, Satan will be cast down (as lightning) from heaven.
Devils Access to Heaven?
Many assume heaven is holy, pure, and wonderful. They’ve never considered the idea that evil, adversarial angelic entities also currently have legal access, or “places,” there (Rev. 12:8).
Before Jesus’ earthly ministry, Job 1–2 and Zechariah 3 both portray Satan presenting accusations before God’s heavenly court.
Thirty years after Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, Paul tells us (in Ephesians 6:12) that the spiritual principalities and powers still reign over the nations from their heavenly places. Then, sixty years after the crucifixion, the Book of Revelation still describes the Devil as “the accuser of our brothers… who accuses them (present tense) before our God day and night” (Rev. 12:10).
Therefore, the casting down of Satan in Revelation 12:7–9 represents a yet-future, decisive moment when his access to the heavenly court will forever be revoked.
2. What will cause Satan to be cast out of heaven?
Revelation 12 describes the decisive moment when Satan and his angels are expelled from heaven.
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon.”
— Revelation 12:7
The Positive Apocalypse trilogy dramatizes this moment when several prophetic conditions converge:
The full number of martyrs has been reached (Revelation 6:11).
The court of heaven convenes and divine judgment is issued (Daniel 7:9–10, 26).
The victorious faith, testimony, and martyrdom of God’s people contribute to Satan’s defeat:
“And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.”
— Revelation 12:11

Corrupt rulers condemned (Psalm 82)
Heavenly court convenes (Daniel 7)
Authority is revoked (Daniel 7:26)
Satan and his angels expelled (Revelation 12)
Also see: Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 14:12–16; Ezekiel 28:16–19; Hebrews 2:14; Revelation 20:10.
The casting down of Satan marks a turning point in the spiritual conflict affecting (1) mankind, and (2) the heavens and earth. For much more about this topic, read The Overcomer’s Treasure Map.
3. Will Satan and the fallen angelic rulers die like men?
Yes, that’s what Scripture teaches.
“I said, ‘You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die.’”
— Psalm 82:6–7
Psalm 82 is the most explicit reference to Satan and his angels dying like mortal men, but the following five passages suggest the same fate:
1. Ezekiel 28:18–19 — The Cherub Reduced to Ashes
(This passage is often applied typologically to Satan through the king of Tyre.)
“I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you,
and I turned you to ashes upon the earth
in the sight of all who saw you.”
This passage describes a powerful heavenly being being:
consumed by fire
reduced to ashes
brought to a visible end
This language is very similar to mortal destruction.
2. Hebrews 2:14 — Christ Destroys the Devil
The Greek word used here is important.
“Through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil.”
The Greek word is katargeō (pronounced kat-ar-GEH-oh).
It means:
to abolish
to render powerless
to bring to nothing
This implies ultimate termination of authority and power.
3. Revelation 20:10 — Final Judgment
“The devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Interpretations vary, but the key point is that Satan’s reign ends completely.
He is no longer a ruler or adversary.
4. Isaiah 14:16 — “Is This the Man?”
This passage mocks the fallen tyrant of Babylon, but it has long been understood as reflecting Satan’s fall.
“Those who see you will stare at you and ponder over you:
‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble?’”
Notice the irony.
The terrifying being who shook nations is revealed as something small and defeated.
This fits the same theological idea seen in Psalm 82 — divine rulers destined to die like men.
5. Genesis 3:15 — The Serpent’s Head Crushed
“He shall bruise your head.”
A crushed head is fatal imagery.
From this earliest prophecy, the serpent’s destiny is defeat and destruction.
4. Will there be catastrophic earthquakes and tsunamis in the end times?
Cataclysmic Earthquakes
Revelation 6:12 — a great earthquake
Revelation 11:13 — a devastating quake in Jerusalem
Revelation 16:18 — the greatest earthquake in human history
Tsunamis and Floods
Jesus also warned of intense turmoil affecting the seas:
“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”
— Luke 21:25–26
5. What is Satan’s final strategy?
About 4300 years ago, Genesis 10:9-10 tells us Nimrod became a great (evil) king over a unified mankind.
He built cities around the land of Shinar (Babylon), where they built the Tower of Babel in rebellion against God. Nimrod built Babylon. He is the prototype for the end-time Antichrist.
Nimrod’s kingdom was all of one language and unified in their goals.
The book of Genesis reveals what God said:
“Nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.”
— Genesis 11:6
So, at the beginning of this age God confused mankind’s languages, disrupting their unity.
The Bible tells us that, in the end times, another Nimrod-like king will ascend as the global ruler over a dreadful and terrible ‘beast’ Babylon that dominates all nations.
But, hard as they try, Satan and his Antichrist will never attain Nimrod’s level of unity. Their end-time Babylon kingdom will always be like ‘iron mixed with clay.’ (Daniel 2 and 7, Revelation 13 and 17).
After Satan is cast down, he’ll know his time is short (Rev 12:12.) It’s reasonable to think he will make one last, desperate attempt to save himself from condemnation in the Lake of Fire. According to God’s own words (Gen 11:6), unifying mankind in rebellion against God may be his only chance.
6. How do overcomers treat their enemies?
Even in the face of persecution, Jesus gave a radical command to his followers:
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44“Love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return.”
— Luke 6:35
The response of the faithful is not hatred or revenge, but obedience, mercy, and endurance.
I believe the martyr Stephen’s demonstration of love and forgiveness was the beginning of Saul becoming the Apostle Paul. (Acts 7:58-60)
7. Are global governance efforts such as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals real?
Yes, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be found at: https://sdgs.un.org/goals
Also, in chapter 17, Katie refers to an article showing how the SDGs support the LGBT agenda. Here’s that article.
The SDGs aim to address global issues such as poverty, climate change, and development. They’re bringing nations together on a global scale, just as prophesied in Daniel and Revelation.
8. Will believers be excluded from the global economic system?
Revelation describes a future system in which economic participation is tied to allegiance to the beast.
“So that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark.”
— Revelation 13:17
Modern developments in digital currencies and digital identity systems enable such global economic control for the first time in mankind’s history.
Scripture warns that accepting allegiance to this system has deadly spiritual consequences:
“If anyone worships the beast… he will drink the wine of God’s wrath.”
— Revelation 14:9–12
